Brief Posting Description

We are currently sourcing for a Senior Engineer to join our Vibration, Dynamics and Noise (VDN) team in Kuala Lumpur.  The role involves a variety of skill sets due to the variable and diverse nature of work which incorporates design studies, site based troubleshooting, customer relations and support.  At this time, we are only considering applications from Malaysian nationals.


Detailed Description

Responsibilities
·         Perform vibration analysis of piping, machinery and structures by acquiring vibration data using different data acquisition hardware including high channel count equipment.
·         Evaluate machinery condition by understanding vibration data, machine performance, operational and maintenance data and direct communication with the operator.
·         Troubleshoot on compressors, pumps, turbines, gearboxes and other equipment. An interest to learn more advanced troubleshooting techniques and solutions.
·         Interact with operations, maintenance, and inspection personnel to resolve complex vibration issues.
·         Support mechanical integrity activities for piping and small bore piping attachment.
·         Carry out piping vibration risk based inspections and walk down surveys in line with the Energy Institute Guidelines.
·         Conduct routine equipment health audits on assigned rotating equipment and drive resolution on identified deficiencies.
·         Perform design studies (analyses) for new or modified production facilities such as offshore production facilities, gas plants, pumping stations and refineries.
·         Conduct vibration assessments in line with the Energy Institute Avoidance of Vibration Induced Fatigue Failure Guidelines.
·         Conduct a variety of advanced piping vibration and dynamic analyses (including Flow-Induced Vibration, Acoustic Induced Vibration, Flow-Induced Turbulence, Water Hammer, Gas System Transient Analysis, Small Bore Connections, Pipe Stress Analysis, Surge Control Dynamic Simulation, Finite Element Analysis, and Forced Response Studies).
·         Conduct vibration and dynamic studies on surge control in centrifugal compressors, pumps, and many other design requirements.
·         Prepare timely and accurate technical reports to professional standards.
·         Establish strong working relationships with customers.
·         Occasional out of hours calls to other VDN office around the globe to discuss project.
·         Offer application assistance, in person or by phone, to support customers during the initial project planning stages. As the job moves forward, conduct detailed design analysis and work closely with customers to find optimal solutions and recommendations.
·         Prepares timely and accurate technical reports to professional standards.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
·         Ideally the candidate should possess a Mechanical Engineer (BEng or MEng) and registered with recognized professional body.
·         At least 5 years + experience and good knowledge of vibration fundamentals and ability to investigate and troubleshoot vibration problems, with an understanding of performance, reliability, and maintenance issues.
·         Understanding of rotating machinery including reciprocating and centrifugal compressors, reciprocating and centrifugal pumps, gas and steam turbines, gearboxes, motors, engines     and other equipment. 
·         An understanding of pulsation and torsional vibrations in reciprocating equipment and piping systems, their causes and remedial actions.
·         Experience in process engineering, piping design, pipe stress, or related engineering.
·         Capable in reading and manipulating drawings in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
·         Competent using finite element software such as ANSYS (for static, dynamic, and fatigue studies) and CAESAR II (for static, dynamic, and transient studies).
·         Experience using transient pulsation programs like AFT Impulse and Stoner Pipeline Simulator.
·         Good understanding of simple fluid dynamics including water hammer and pulsations.
·         Strong interest in vibration, integrity, reliability, and design.
·         Basic experience in project management.
·         Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
·         Strong customer focus and the desire to go the extra mile.
·         Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge and fluency in other languages will be beneficial.
·         Candidate will be required to pass the BOSIET training and receive an offshore medical to determine fitness for offshore work
