JOB VACANCY-Quantity Surveyor(KL,MY)

Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood has an opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor. There is an increased thrust to deliver our services for the growing Asian market. As a result of this, Commercial Department operation is expanding and evolving to manage the challenges of regional projects that continue to pose challenges in offering our services through a global talent pool.

Pre-Award Activities

  • Work on prequalification of Construction Contractors
  • Prepare tender documentation as well as definition of appropriate unit price list tailored to the scope of work
  • Expedite receipt of bids
  • Prepare preliminary bids tabulation
  • Review and agree with the Subcontract Manager the short list
  • Organize technical & commercial clarification meetings with Bidders
  • Assist the Subcontract Manager in the meeting preparation
  • Liaise with technical disciplines in getting technical bids evaluation
  • Prepare final bid tabulation
  • Prepare the draft of the Letter of Award and subsequent contract document

Post-Award Activities 

  • Monitor field instructions against cost estimates
  • Responsible for drafting correspondence to Contractors on behalf of Construction Manager; Prepare Final Account and Close Out documentation
  • Review the agreed costs of field instructions, raise formal variation orders and review monthly payment applications and issue payment certificates
  • Attend weekly progress meetings and issue minutes of meeting’s
  • Review Contractual claims and propose remedial actions; Review and evaluate Approved for Construction re-measures

Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering or in Quantity Surveying are desirable
  • Experience in handling Mechanical and Piping Engineering Contracts
  • More than 10 years’ experience as Contracts Engineer / Quantity Surveyor in pre-contract and post-contract administration works, with at least 2 years in the Oil & Gas Industry
