Potential Losses Estimator Engineer

Location:  Kuala Lumpur, 14, MY

Job Role Summary
On an annual basis the Company compiles the values of our assets both in project and production phases to determine our overall insurance obligation under the Corporate Insurance Program.  The engineer will have to use a variety of methods, data sources and tools to calculate the asset value
  • Gather information regarding capital projects and active assets portfolio
  • Determine credible potential loss scenarios for projects in various execution phases as well as producing assets in various stages of depletion
  • Define worldwide asset life cycle to determine net present or replacement cost values
  • Continuous interface with Projects and affiliates’ business leads to understand Project schedules or asset modifications
  • Provide input to the Annual Corporate Insurance Program
Expected Level of Proficiency
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of experience with upstream production background and with development or production project experience, and basic understanding of Risk Management
  • Proficient in Economic Analysis. Able to conduct calculations of Project Evaluation indicators such as: Cash flow, Net Present Value, Replacement Cost Value, Discounted Cash Flow Rate (DCFR)
  • Understanding of asset life cycle from design to decommissioning
  • Knowledge about production profiles: early life, plateau and field depletion
  • Large capital projects execution experience
  • Able to gather, analyze and compare data via data analytics tools like Excel, PowerPivot and MS Access
  • Familiar with engineering consequence modeling studies
  • Able to articulate technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken
  • Willing and able to travel
  • Able to work well with others in a fast-changing environment
