BASF (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was incorporated in 1989 and it operates manufacturing plants in Bukit Jelutong (Shah Alam), Bukit Raja (Klang) in Selangor and Pasir Gudang in Johor, as well as an operation site in Kulim, Kedah. Objectives
  • A Category Buyer for regional Energy & Utility categories e.g. Natural Gas, Coal, Electricity, CO2 emission, Steam, Water & wastewater, Industrial Gases (Bulk & Onsite)
  • Procurement of defined products targeted at gaining optimum commercial conditions at the required level of supply security.
  • Business & Market analysis for the Energy & Utility products (Supply and Demand, Trade, Pricing & Forecast) for the Asia – Pacific region.
Main Tasks
  • Overall responsible of the existing supply contract execution & “trouble-shooting” for the identified sites, including managing any supply issues, follow-up on SAP related processes, non-conformance management, and related contract matters.
  • Working with Regional Category Manager to prepare for negotiations related to the new supply contract or renewal, and execute such negotiations plan with the respective potential suppliers.
  • Working with Regional Category Manager to develop and implement raw material supply concepts and strategies for defined raw materials across Greater China region (but also might involve collaboration in the Asia Pacific region) to achieve optimum commercial conditions and supply security, linked to business requirements and overall company strategy. .
  • Business & Market analysis (Supply and Demand, Trade, Pricing, and other related areas) for the relevant Energy & Utility products in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Supplier relationship management - Negotiate and maintain relationships with suppliers across the region within a holistic approach to balance the need for cost savings, value creation, risk management and business continuity.
  • Internal Business Partner Relationship Management (iBPRM): To drive a more collaborative, business partnering relationship with internal stakeholders to evaluate procurement requirements and needs. This also extends to support and challenging investment choices including category management of specific categories not traditionally covered by procurement.
  • Encourage best practice processes.
  • Provide business units with timely market intelligence (through suppliers, traders, energy regulators, consultants, etc) including monitor and communicates price developments of raw materials.
  • Provide support in creating consistency across the supply chain that leads to effective inventory management of assigned raw materials harmonize with demand planning to ensure its high availability.
  • Able to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team in complex contract negotiations.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering (or similar)
  • Fluency in English is mandatory
  • Fluency in Mandarin is advantageous
  • Prior technical + commercial + contracting knowledge in Energy, Utility, Industrial Gas, and/or upstream chemical area is a plus.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • SAP knowledge is advantageous
